Technical translation

Technical – or specialised – translation covers content specific to a given domain, science, activity or area of know-how, including operating instructions for machines or equipment. It requires high-level language skills plus good knowledge of the technical field concerned and the relevant terminology.
Specialised translation is not confined purely to the technical domain – technical manuals, product data sheets, specifications, etc. The term also encompasses legal, IT or commercial translations.
